Revival: It Requires Obedience

But why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and not do the things which I
say?
--Luke 6:46

It is my conviction that much, very much, prayer for and talk about
revival these days is wasted energy. Ignoring the confusion of
figures, I might say that it is hunger that appears to have no
object; it is dreamy wishing that is too weak to produce moral
action. It is fanaticism on a high level for, according to John
Wesley, "a fanatic is one who seeks desired ends while ignoring the
constituted means to reach those ends."...

The correction of this error is extemely difficult for it entails
more than a mere adjustment of our doctrinal beliefs; it strikes at
the whole Adam-life and requires self-abnegation, humility and cross
carrying. In short it requires obedience. And that we will do
anything to escape.

It is almost unbelievable how far we will go to avoid obeying God.
We call Jesus "Lord" and beg Him to rejuvenate our souls, but we are
careful to do not the things He says. When faced with a sin, a
confession or a moral alteration in our life, we find it much easier
to pray half a night than to obey God. The Size of the Soul, 18-19.

"May this never be true of my life, Lord! I see the futility; I'm
convinced of the need. Now enable me by Your Spirit to live this
obedience. Amen."

Its been year since the DBOB blog has been updated. It’s been long wait for this 3^rd annual retreat. I got to tell you this was most interesting retreat we have had. The lesson was well planned. To experience Deaf Men Retreat is rarity. Keynotes that were presented truly blew my mind. We learned about Neimiah who “Lived for God, in order to serve we need to have attitude like Jesus as we covered Galatians chapter 5 about the 9 fruits of the spirit. We need the Light – Jesus in our heart before we can give, to give is to have the right heart. We get plugged into Christ since he is the vine and we are the branches, with this we can serve effectively. Lastly we learned how we can express ourselves. During last part of the retreat we all prayed for each man’s struggle and success. It was very important for us men to open up to each other as it says in the bible. This is best way in order to become stronger effective followers of Christ in deaf ministry. We hope and pray each man become more motivated to take charge in their deaf church and worship.

We are planning for the retreat for next year and possibly more likely will be in Colorado. Bit way out of area. One of our deaf brothers from Colorado has a heavy heart for the deaf men there. We want to see if God will open the door. This will be great because we can bring all deaf men from Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and of course DC Metro area.

2008 Deaf Men Retreat is underway

This is our 3^rd annual deaf men retreat. This time Tim one of our brotherhoods took over this year. He has done a great job preparing for this retreat. We are going to Summit Lake in Emmetsburg MD ( http://www.summitlake.org ). The guest speaker is Alex Abenchuchan an intern for Fairfax Deaf Ministry. Theme for our retreat is “I-Worship”. This will be the best retreat we will have. iWorship purpose is to bring high definition clarity into place of worship before the Lord. Verse to support this theme is Psalm 96:8-9 (erv) “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts O worship the LORD in beauty of holiness: tremble before him, all the earth.”

The retreat will help men get together and experience worship. The keynotes that will be presented will help us men to become better leaders and an example in where they worship. We are pumped up.
