Deaf Band Of Brothers
Ephesians 5:15-16 "So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing well in these evil days."
It's funny but true. There are times we promise ourselves we will do more reading/study of bible, be more involved with service at FXCC, setup new ministries, and prayer time. We may try re-prioritizing our life by setting up time management so we can make more time for Lord.
You ever heard of saying, "We make the time when we don't have time at all, but when we have plenty of time we don't make the time?." We are human. But we need remind ourselves that we need make the opportunity. For example, we have Saturdays we spend all day maybe doing nothing.
Oswald J Smith also stated that countless of churches are bogged down by church activities, and the focus of the unsaved people in the world has been neglected. This is parallel with our time to make opportunity to evangelize to co-worker, family, and friends around us.
Prayer:
Lord, we are distracted by many tasks we want and need to do. Help us to prioritize our time so we can make room to be more involved in your service/ministries. Also give us courage when we have that moment of opportunity to mention The Gospel to our co-worker, family, friends, and especially strangers. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I agree with this comment, "..countless of churches are bogged down by church activities, and the focus of the unsaved people in the world has been neglected.." Instead of cramming the church schedule with programs & classes, we need to be out in the field. Instead of talking about it (reaching deaf souls), we need to be living it!
I talked with a brother in Christ of mine after class and shared with him my experience. Before I became a preacher, I worked with a very strange schedule (sometimes from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., other times, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and other from 4 p.m. to midnight). It was work, work and work. I admit I spent little time with the Overland Park church of Christ and the deaf ministry. Sometimes I had to work on Sundays which wasn't a good thing to do!
It made me think about the word, "opportunities". How often will I encounter a deaf person at my workplace? A small 1 to 4 percent!! How many will I lead the deaf to Christ? Not many compared to what I am doing now!
Now, imagine all the men at Fairfax surrendered their lives again to God and head to SIBI to become a deaf evangelist/minister nationwide/worldwide? The deaf souls coming to Christ will dramatically increase in exponential proportion!
But in the meantime, how are we doing in trying to lead others to Christ in our community. Before work, after work, and even during work (if you have a large # of deaf in your workplace) and how do you approach them? Approaching them in a humble and non-pressuring way is the most effective means to win their hearts to God. It's a relationship building efforts. We're not God's salespeople. We're looking for relationships.
Invite someone to Starbucks, restaurant, or in your home and get to "know" the person before you introduce them to Christ.
Opportunities, men, are out there. But we tend to overlook them, easily!
Keep the eyes of your heart, OPEN! :)
